What a special month this January has been! We have had lot’s of new children joining our nursery, they have thoroughly enjoyed exploring their new environment and making friends. The children have most definitely embraced the changes in weather, having fun playing with the snow, making snowy animals and exploring new materials and textures.

Aysha Riaz, Manager
This month we learned about the season winter. Our children had an adventurous time in the nursery garden exploring the various materials and textures. They also used a variety of materials to create snowflakes, penguins and snowmen and used their imagination with role playing in the North Pole!
After this, our theme was birds. The children learnt a variety of new vocabulary, such as owl, blue tit, robin, pigeon and red kite. We had many discussions about what food birds like to eat, and then made our own bird feeders to attract birds into our nursery garden. This was a great activity for children to practice their fine motor skills, as they sliced oranges, spread sunflower seed butter on and then sprinkled on pumpkin and sunflower seeds.
At the children’s request, we ended the month by exploring different species of dinosaurs. ROAR! The children made dinosaur fossils, created dinosaur footprints and played in our very own Jurassic Dino World. One of their favourite stories to read was ‘1, 2, 3 Do the Dinosaur.’
Next month we will be focusing on ‘Understanding the World,’ this will include learning about time, different cultures and the sun, moon and stars.
Friday 17th February 2023 will also be the last day of this term, which means the nursery will be closed for one week. We will re-open on Monday 27th February 2023.
